I was born in Irkutsk, Russia. At the age of nine my parents and I moved to Toronto, Canada where I still reside. At the age of 17, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism – an overactive thyroid disease - that causes the heart to beat fast and irregularly and the person to feel nervous, anxious, and weak amongst other severe symptoms. After many tests and numerous visits to the doctor I was put on a pill which my body rejected. My Endocrinologist suggested to do a “radioactive iodine” treatment which lowers the thyroid hormone level to its regular production. Unfortunately, the first treatment did not work and it had to be repeated. That in turn has completely destroyed my thyroid gland, production of the thyroid hormone and turned it into “hypothyroidism” - an under active thyroid disease, in which symptoms include fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, slowed heart rate, joint and muscle pain, cramps, weakness, recurrent urinary and respiratory tract infections just to name a few. The only way to get hypothyroidism under control is by taking one pill a day called “Synthroid” for the rest ones’ life. That too comes with struggles since side effects are not pretty and doses have to be monitored by ongoing blood tests every 3-6 months. After years of struggle, major weight gain, at the age of 29 I decided to take control of my life by setting a goal to compete with the WBFF in the transformation division in July 2018 in NYC. Little did I know that decision would change my life. Not only did I decide to step on the WBFF stage to show my transformation, I made a last minute decision to do the bikini division as well. When you enter the Transformation category it’s a competition within yourself. It’s a goal, it’s a push. But when you choose to enter Bikini you are now competing amongst others in that category for a placing, an award and potentially a pro card. Well, I placed 1st in Transformation and 3rd in Bikini and in that single moment my drive to compete again grew. Fast forward to 2019 I competed in the WBFF Orlando show and placed 4th out of 10. My wellness journey was never about weight loss. It was always about how I wanted to feel. It has instilled discipline in me, it has pushed me to my limits and beyond. It has brought out both physical and mental strength I did not know I had but above all it has allowed me to take back control of my life from Hypothyroidism. The most important way it has changed my life is how it’s affecting those around me. The amount of people that have reached out asking for help and guidance with hypothyroidism, PCOS, weight loss, a goal to step on stage or to simply get their confidence back has been overwhelming and so inspiring. I had no idea I am inspiring others by simply bettering myself. It has now become a passion of mine to help my clients achieve their goals, to empower, transform and help unveil the healthiest, strongest, confident, happiest version of themselves. This isn’t a quick fix. There are no magic pills, special shakes, or flat tummy teas. No fad diets that will get you SUSTAINABLE RESULTS and physically and mentally happy. This is a journey, a process full of hard work, dedication, consistency, ups and downs & discipline when motivation is no longer there. IT’S A MINDSET. IT’S A JOURNEY. IT’S A LIFESTYLE.
